Student is dressed in the regulation uniform for making
formal calls at the homes of family and friends as well as
for strolling up and down the Nevsky Prospect, St.
Petersburg's equivalent of New York City's Fifth Avenue.
Unlike the kitchen furniture appearing in portraits taken in
rural photo galleries, the style of chair seen here was very
fashionable at the time.
