But the putsch failed, and the newspaper posted Yeltsyn's declaration of gratitude, together with a facsimile of his signature, and the time and date, 5 a.m. 22 August 1991 (top left on p.1). He addressed all who defended "the White House", thanking them for their patriotism, courage, and devotion to the Motherland and freedom. He finished with this: "Thanks to your decisiveness and dedication, the reactionary putsch has failed. Russia has fully turned its course toward progress, democracy, culture, and the people's prosperity." Putin must still be chuckling when he re-reads these lines.

In excellent condition. The paper is slightly age-toned and shows a few minor wrinkles and creases but no tears or soiling.
