In very good to excellent condition. The graphic on the front cover has been torn off. Reading the title of the painting that used to be there, "Lenin and Stalin in the Gorki" (in fine print below), it comes to mind that it could be the work of the owner of the magazine, moved by a personal or political motivation many years after 1938. Other than this missing piece, there is just a narrow strip of discoloration along the spine, mild wrinkling to the top left corner and to the top of a few of the last pages, and a notation in pencil on the back cover, apparently a record of a previous sale.
This issue preceded the 21st anniversary of the October Revolution. Not surprisingly, the entire issue, with the exception of one landscape, is devoted to the achievements of the Soviet state in industry, collective farming, and the army. Note that text dominates over illustrations because every work of art had to be explained from the position of the Communist ideology, and explained thoroughly, leaving no room for doubt or alternate opinion.
