Presentation folder measuring 6" x 8 ½" when closed, in leatherette-bound hard cover with the emblem of the DDR Ministry of the Interior embossed in gold on the front cover. The lettering within the wreath reads "For protection of the power of workers and peasants." The cover of the award document shows the same emblem and the name of the medal under it. Inside, the left page shows a color image of the bronze medal under the name of the issuing organ: Council of Ministers of the German Democratic Republic, Ministry of State Security. The award page states that, as a token of recognition of many years of faithful and conscientious fulfillment of duty, Gunter Vos is awarded with the Bronze Medal for Faithful Service in the National People's Army. The award is dated 8 February 1981 and bears a facsimile signature of the Minister of State Security.
In excellent condition: the cover is wear-free, the award document is very clean, showing just very light foxing.
The medal (original name "Medaille für treue Dienste in der Nationalen Volksarmee") was instituted on 1 June 1956 in four grades: bronze for 5 years of service, silver for 10 years, gold for 15, and gold with colored flag and Roman numerals "XX" on the ribbon bar for 20 years of service. It was presented to members of the NVA and Stasi, as well as individuals who actively supported the NVA and Stasi.
