This is Imperial Russia's short-term State War Bond in 1,000 ruble denomination, guaranteeing a 5 1/2% interest rate. Series I, issued against authorized capital of 2,000,000,000 rubles, with fully attached redemption coupon fold-out which has eighteen coupons remaining. The certificate is finely engraved and printed on watermarked bank note paper, with the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle at top center. These bonds were issued to help finance the war effort in World War 1. A year after this Bond's issue, the Russian revolution of 1917 occurred, Bolsheviks renounced all the Tsarist debt and disengaged Russia from the war.

In very good condition: mild wrinkles, minor ripping to some of the edges, mostly to the coupons sheet, and some old folds which are not too intrusive to the eye and will probably flatten out completely in a display case under glass.
