In excellent condition. The raised details on both sides of the medallion are perfect and exceptionally crisp. Both sides are completely free of significant scratches, edge knocks or any other serious flaws. There are some tiny contact marks throughout, all of them barely noticeable or completely invisible to the naked eye. The toning to the brass is uniform and extremely attractive throughout, without significant blemishes or oxidation spots; some the original "gilt" mint luster is clearly visible in recessed areas on the obverse.

The medal comes on an original suspension, a WW2 two-layer model in steel with a self-locking pin. The old, possibly original ribbon is very well preserved and sound, showing only a modest amount of soiling; note that it is wrapped "in reverse" as is often the case with original ribbons. The connecting link has been cut but appears to be of the period. Overall, a very attractive specimen of the Stalingrad Medal, among the better examples we have offered in recent years.
