Special-Issue Government Postal Cover Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of Dmitry Ovtsyn's Great Northern Expedition, 1989.

The size is 6 �" x 4 �", with a pre-printed special-issue postal stamp depicting Dmitry Ovtsyn on deck of a tall ship. The artwork in the left pane of the obverse commemorates his so-called Great Northern Expedition of 1733 - 1743 that explored and put on the map the shoreline of Siberia from the Ob River to the Yenisey River. Dmitry Ovtsyn was an officer of the Imperial Russian Navy and a hydrographer.

In excellent condition.
