Two-piece construction: the back plate with the serial number is a separate piece soldered to create a hollow area between it and the front piece. The Roman numeral "XV" near the bottom under the portraits signifies the 15th anniversary of the October Revolution.
In fine condition, better than the average for this badge. The red enamel in the center is repaired in a narrow strip above the portraits at approx. 11 to 1 o'clock segment. There are also some internal imperfections that cause a slightly darker area around the portraits. Most of the red enamel however is intact and presents well overall, showing a nice luster and trademark "mother of pearl" quality characteristic of this badge. The white enamel in the band and the plaque at the bottom has several small chips and craquelure throughout. An area at the left side of the plaque around the numeral "1917" and a tiny spot near the last letter P in the CCCP are filled with a white paint. Nevertheless, most of the white enamel is still present and intact. The details of the portraits, industrial machinery, and wreath are very well preserved. Nearly all of the original silver finish on the obverse is intact; there is only a tiny amount of wear to the high points of the artwork. A good amount of the silver plating is also present on the reverse. The original copper screw post measures approx. 6.5 mm in length (from the back plate), reduced by a couple of millimeters for convenience and slightly bent but remains fully functional. The wing nut is a vintage replacement but fits the screw well.
