The Fitted Box of Issue is in sturdy wood covered in dark blue short-pile velvet on the outside and lined with champagne-colored silk on the inside. The padded lining of the lid has the maker mark stenciled in gold. The removable fitted pad for the star and badge is lined with champagne-colored short-pile velvet. The space under the pad fits the sash with room to spare. The lid of the box is decorated with the Garuda, the national emblem of Thailand, in silver gilt.
In very good to excellent condition. All inside surfaces are pristine. Outside, the blue velvet shows mild to moderate wear, not too intrusive to the eye. The Garuda is in excellent condition, showing no wear to its high points and having retained most of its original luster. The latch is in good working order. Opening the box requires a little more effort than expected. The hinges are straight and tight; the box is structurally perfectly sound.

V to award the royal family, government employees, and foreign dignitaries for their outstanding services to the Kingdom of Thailand. In 1918,
King Rama VI added the Special Class, the highest in the hierarchy of the order's grades, to denote exceptional royal favor.
