In excellent condition, outstanding for this pre-WW2 Soviet award. The enamel is very well-preserved and shows a magnificent luster; there are some tiny contact marks barely visible to the naked eye, no chips, flaking

The exposed silver parts of the medallion have only a few very tiny dings and are free of significant wear. The details of the artwork are extremely well-preserved and crisp, including the grass under the soldier's feet. The toning to silver is uniform and attractive throughout.

The medal comes on an early post-war suspension device, a two-layer model in steel with an integral catch of the pin. The old, possibly period ribbon is perfectly clean and sound. To summarize, this is an outstanding example of the first Soviet award medal!
