The red enamel in the lower part of the shield is essentially perfect. The raised details of the wreath and machinegun are very well-preserved and crisp. Much of the original silver finish of the reverse of the badge is still present in recessed areas. The screw post has been slightly reduced for convenience as was customary, but its remaining length of approx. 9.5 mm is fully sufficient for proper functionality. The badge comes with the original wartime screw plate in brass-plated steel maker-marked "ShMZ NKPS".
