Vincas Mickevicius-Kapsukas (Kapsukas being his pen name) was a Lithuanian communist political activist, publicist and revolutionary, the first Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Lithuanian SSR in 1918-1919. Not only the 400-year-old university but the entire city of Marijampole, the second largest city in Lithuania, where he studied at a gymnasium, was named after his pen name.
