The preprinted government stamp is canceled with the First Day cancel of the Vilnius Post Office dated 12 July 1980, forty years since the Ribbentrop-Molotov Non-aggression Pact declared Lithuania within the Soviet sphere of influence. The left side of the obverse features a lithographic image of the Gorky Street in Vilnius with the tower of the Gadiminas Castle, the city's most iconic landmark, in the background.
