This arsenal was originally the work of count Grigory Orlov, a Russian Army officer who was the leader of the coup d'é·tat which ascended Catherine the Great to the throne of the Russian Empire. An avid collector, Orlov traveled across Russia and abroad selecting the most magnificent hunting weapons. Made for noblemen, each piece was technically perfect and had great artistic value. The gems of this collection are ornate weapons manufactured in Dresden in the 16th century by craftsmen who represented the highest standards of the era.
