British Expeditionary Force Army of the Black Sea boxing tournament program, South of Russia, June 1920.
Measures 5 ¾" x 8 ¾" when closed. Inside, the program folds out into a table with the names of the boxers participating in the semi-finals printed and blank boxes to write in the winners to fight in the finals.
In very good condition. The paper is mildly creased and wrinkled, and shows a few small stains. Light wear to the edges and corners is evident; there is also a tear at the bottom of the fold. None of the wear is very intrusive to the eye, nothing obscures the printed text which is crisp and vibrantly black.

The British Army of the Black Sea was part of the allied intervention in the 1918 - 1920 when Great Britain, France, and the United States sent their expeditionary forces to assist the Russian White Movement in their struggle against the Bolsheviks. The British Army of the Black Sea was part of the supplementary force deployed to intervene in the Crimea. This very rare document shows us one of the ways the Brits maintained the fighting spirit among their troops. However, the White Russian armies and their Allied supporters failed to overcome the Reds, and were soon forced to evacuate from Russia. This boxing tournament took place in the last weeks of the British presence in Crimea.
