The First Moscow Watch Factory was founded in 1930 in response to the growing need in timepieces for the People's Commissariat of Railways and the Red Army. For that, an entire Dueber-Hampden watch-manufacturing facility with production capacity of 200-250 thousand watches was purchased, transported and assembled. In 1935 the factory was given the honorary name of Sergey Kirov. At the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War the factory was evacuated to the city of Zlatoust in the Urals but returned to Moscow in 1942. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the factory was reorganized into a corporation. In 2005, the MakTime Watch Factory Ltd. bought out the equipment and technology of the Poljot First Moscow Watch Factory, putting an end to its history but beginning a new chapter for the Poljot brand.
