Enormously large and massive: 18" x 23 ½", weighs a little over 14 lbs. Published by the State Publishers of Political Literature, Moscow, specially for the jubilee exhibition Life and Work of I.V. Stalin." The folder contains 78 posters illustrating the life and work of Stalin from his humble beginnings as a Russian Orthodox seminary student, to his joining the revolutionary movement and bank robberies, ostensibly to raise funds for the revolutionaries, to the October Revolution, and further on, shaping and molding the young Soviet state with terror, demagoguery and repressions, rewriting history as he saw fit as many times as saw fit, - all the way to the victory in the Patriotic War, and expansion of his empire to include most of Eastern Europe. The folder containing the posters has the original price tag of 300 rubles. Just to put things in perspective, the average monthly salary of a teacher in 1950 was 697 rubles, 485 rubles for a doctor. As you see, the Great Leader and Friend of All Nations did not come cheap.

In very good to excellent condition. The folder shows mild to moderate staining and soiling, as well as some wear to the edges and corners. The wear does not affect its structural integrity and sturdiness. Condition of the individual posters varies from very good to excellent, the most obvious wear being minor soiling, small bumps and creases to the corners and edges, an occasional small rip to the edge, and/or pushpin holes. Thanks to the large format of the posters, none of the wear is very intrusive to the eye or detractive.

Most of the visuals in this set existed, or still exist, in separate posters, but it is a rare opportunity for a collector of Stalin-era artifacts to have most, if not all of them, in one set, in great condition, and in such an impressive large format.

Please note that the 1-ft. ruler in our last photo is for size reference.

Please note that, due to the large size and weight, special shipping rates will apply.
