Decorative Wall Plaque with Soviet Merchant Ship the Sovetskie Profsoyuzy, circa late 1970s - early 1980s.

A metal plate measuring 15" x 6 ¼". The artwork was created by ematal-coating, a hard anodizing process that creates an ultra-smooth wear-resistant surface. A plaque like that was most likely meant to adorn the wall of a maritime common use space on a ship or in an office. Whatever its original purpose, it will make a wonderful addition to a maritime collection.

In very good to excellent condition, showing very minor scuffs, an occasional scratch, and several tiny spots of beginning oxidation. None of the wear is too obvious, most of it is lost in the deep black of the background.

The plaque comes with a hanging cord that appears to be original, and still has the original manufacturer's paper tag glued to the reverse.

The bulk cargo carrier Sovetskie Profsoyuzy was built in 1977, one of 15 ships built in Kherson, Ukraine under Project 1585. It was retired and disassembled in 2008.
