Portrait of Felix Dzerzhinsky, Marquetry Inlay in Solid Wood, circa 1970s-80s.
Large format measuring 17 ½" x 21 ¼" x ¾". In marquetry inlay on solid hardwood panel. The obverse is finished with high-gloss lacquer; the reverse is also finished with lacquer which prevented the board from warping. A hole is drilled on the reverse for mounting the panel on a wall.
In very good to excellent condition. Tilting the panel to reflect a bright light reveals a few scuffs to the lacquer finish but they are practically invisible at a normal viewing angle.
This artwork will make an outstanding large high-quality artful backdrop for a Soviet NKVD law enforcement

This artwork will make an outstanding large high-quality artful backdrop for a Soviet NKVD law enforcement collection, juxtaposing the elegance of the artwork with the terror the Iron Felix inflicted on the people of Soviet Russia.
