The handwritten entries on all the subsequent pages are clear and legible.

Some inconsistencies in those entries compelled us to do more in-depth online research, in particular, on the pamyat-naroda.ru and podvignaroda.ru websites. As far as we could align the information we found with the what is recorded in this ID, Private Grigory Velichkovsky (Григорий Филиппович Величковский) was born in 1913 in Ukraine, was conscripted into the Red Army in 1933. During the Patriotic War, he was re-enlisted in 1944 and served in the 222nd Rifle Regiment, 49th Rifle Division, 33rd Army, where he served as a machine gunner until the end of the Patriotic war. In February 1944 he was severely wounded, was hospitalized. In April 1945 he returned to active duty and was assigned to the 53rd Rifle Regiment, part of the 105th Rifle Division which was stationed in the Far East and never fought against Germany. We have no information whether Velichkovsky participated in any combat there, or how long he served there. He was awarded with a Medal For Valor in June or July 1945 (discrepancy between the dates in the ID and online). The ID also lists the Medal for Victory over Germany, unconfirmed in online sources.

Please note that the penny in our photo is for size reference.
