Photo ID of a deputy of the Moscow City Council of Workers' Deputies, 1953. In booklet format measuring 3 ¾" x 2 ¾", with hard covers wrapped in genuine top-grain leather. The front cover features embossed USSR State Emblem and the lettering underneath, reading "Moscow City Council of Workers' Deputies." The information inside identifies Valentin Syomin as a deputy of the Moscow Council, 4th convocation, from electoral district # 758. Whether the USSR emblem was used in error or out of megalomania of Moscow as the center of the entire Soviet Union, is anyone's guess and may be a challenging research subject for a history buff.

In excellent condition. The covers show just microscopic scuffs at the head and foot of the spine, and a small ink stain on the front cover. The gold of the state emblem and lettering is pristine and has retained its original luster. Inside, all the printed and handwritten material, seals and signatures are crisp, clear and perfectly legible. The ID photo shows no wear visible to the naked eye.

Photo ID of Chief of Department of the Moscow City Executive Committee, 1955. In booklet format measuring 3 ½" x 2 ½", with hard covers wrapped in high-quality leatherette. The front cover features embossed RSFSR state emblem and the lettering underneath, reading "Moscow City Council of Workers' Deputies." The information inside certifies that Valentin Syomin worked as Chief of the Organizational Instruction Department of the Moscow City Council of Workers' Deputies. The second page states that the ID was renewed until 31 December 1956.

In excellent condition. The cover shows light wear to the leatherette at the head and foot of the spine, and a tiny scuff to the fore edge. Inside, all the printed and handwritten material, seals and signatures are crisp, clear and quite legible. The ID photo is a little blurred and underexposed but the person is perfectly identifiable.

Photo ID of a Candidate Member of the Moscow City Party Committee, 1961. In booklet format measuring 3 ½" x 2 ½", with beveled hard covers wrapped in green genuine leather with МГК КПСС (Moscow City Committee of the CPSU) embossed on the front, in gold paint. Inside, the information confirms that Valentin Syomin is a candidate to membership in the Moscow City Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, elected by the XVI Moscow City Party Conference.

In excellent condition, no significant wear inside or out.

Photo ID Pass to Special Healthcare Facility for top Party officials, 1962. The pass certifies that Valentin Syomin, as Chairman of the Zhdanov District Executive Committee, Moscow, is entitled to receive healthcare services at the special facilities for top Party and Government officials. Popularly known as "the Kremlin hospital", it was a whole network of top-rate hospitals, clinics, and specialized healthcare facilities administered by the Fourth Chief Directorate at the Ministry of Health of the USSR. Access to this network was granted exclusively to the exalted top of the All-Union and republican level Party and Government elite of this country of workers and peasants.

In very good to excellent condition. The covers show light wear to the leatherette at the corners and a bit of scuffing along the bottom edge of the back cover. Inside, all the printed and handwritten material, seal, signatures, and photo are in excellent condition.

Photo ID of a Deputy of the Zhdanov District Council of Workers' Deputies, Moscow, 1963. In booklet format measuring 3 ¾" x 2 ½", with hard covers wrapped in high-quality leatherette. The front cover features embossed RSFSR state emblem and the lettering underneath reading, "Zhdanov District Council of Workers' Deputies." The information inside identifies Valentin Syomin as a deputy of the Zhdanov District Council, 9th convocation, from electoral district # 237.

In excellent condition, showing minor storage wear to the leatherette, and minimal scuffing at the head and foot of the spine. Inside, all the printed and handwritten material, seal, signatures, and photo are clear and perfectly legible.

Have you noticed that, with all the privileged access to the best services the country had to offer, all the ID photos are a tiny bit "not there" - blurred, and underexposed? Believe it or not, it was intentional. This "impressionistic" blur was in vogue at that time among the top-level Party and government officials including the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Soviet Union. Perhaps they thought that it gave them an intelligent, thoughtful look.
