Silver gilt, enamels. Measures 91.8 mm, weighs 134.7 g. In very fine condition: the 9 o'clock ray is slightly bent causing cracks to the red enamel. No enamel missing, however.

The Order of the Golden Kite was established by Imperial Prescript of February 12, 1890. It was bestowed upon persons who had rendered distinguished military service, and was awarded only to Japanese. It also carried an annuity in different amounts, depending on the class. The annuity ranged from 1,500 yen for the 1st class to 150 yen for the 7th class. The order was abolished by Government Ordinance in 1
