The certificate was issued by Moscow's Sverdlovskiy District Trade Union of Workers of Culture to Kseniya Vlasova for active work in the trade union committee of the Central Museum of Lenin. Uncommon artwork: profiles of Lenin and Stalin as part of a flowing red banner featuring one of the most frequently encountered slogans of the Stalin era, "Under the banner of Lenin - Stalin, under the leadership of the communist party, - forward, to the victory of communism!" The certificate is dated about 2.5 years after Stalin's death, Khrushchev's campaign of "de-stalinization" was already discussed in the Kremlin, the central museum of Lenin in Moscow's Red Square was literally across the street from the Kremlin, the epicenter of the germinating campaign against the cult of Stalin's personality. So, the choice of artwork by the Trade Union of the Workers of Culture of the Sverdlovskiy District of Moscow fell a little short on political foresight. In their defense, the de-stalinization campaign was already in the wind but had not been made official yet.

In good to very good condition. Two of the corners show missing tips, the top edge has three small rips, closed and easily repairable, if desired. The paper is slightly wrinkled; the right and bottom edge show minor discoloration and fraying. The wear is contained to the margins. The artwork, typed text, and the seal are crisp and clear. The hand signature of the chairman of the trade union is a little blurred due to excess of ink, but not terribly so.
