The front endpaper has the signature and date handwritten by the original owner, and the place, the city of Tambov, a regional center about 300 miles southwest of Moscow, famous for the rebellion of its peasantry in 1919 caused by Red Terror and famine of the Military Communism period. It is estimated that around 100,000 rebels were arrested and 15,000 killed during the suppression of the rebellion.
In very good to excellent condition, showing minimal wear to the leatherette of the covers only. The uncommon texture of the leatherette looks as if it has multiple cracks. Some of them are worn and showing the white underlying layer, but they are not cracks but the designed texture. The binding is strong and tight, the internal pages are pristine with an occasional mark or notation in pencil left by some student of Stalin's biography, undoubtedly truthful in this second, corrected, edition. Generally speaking, the history of the Soviet Communist Party and State became more and more truthful with each revision of said history, right until the moment of the regime's collapse.
