Not a sportsman, not a factory worker, not a collective farmer, not even a cute puppy, but a plain Soviet engineer walking from work after picking up his child from the kindergarten and treating him (or her, hard to tell) to an ice cream. The father's clothes date the statuette nicely: turtlenecks and soft jackets with a hood were the height of fashion in the 1970s Soviet Union, and not easy to buy

Large size, stands 12 ½" tall, weighs over 4 lbs. Despite the apparent air of a routine event depicted by this statuette, it is actually rather uncommon for a Soviet presentational sculpture. Not a sportsman, not a factory worker, not a collective farmer, not even a cute puppy, but a plain Soviet engineer walking from work after picking up his child from the kindergarten and treating him (or her, hard to tell) to an ice cream. The father's clothes date the statuette nicely: turtlenecks and soft jackets with a hood were the height of fashion in the 1970s Soviet Union, and not easy to buy, especially not on an engineer's salary. There is a birthday wishes inscription engraved on the plinth, reading "Dear Yuri, Happy birthday! We wish you excellent health, success, and happiness. Grandma and Grandpa." The engraver miscalculated the space, so that the year in the date has "fallen off" the plinth, and we cannot date the statuette accurately.

In very good to excellent condition. The coating on the silumin has rubbed off on the figure of the child, as if on purpose, to show that kids are messy ice cream eaters. Otherwise, the statuette has no other significant wear to mention.
