International Order of St. Hubertus de Lorraine et du Barrois, includes neck badge with ribbon. In original fitted case of issue.

The neck badge. Silver gilt, 58.9 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 53.3 mm in width, weighs 18.4 g. The ribbon is uncommonly wide, 49.1 mm. Also rather uncommonly, the suspension plaque features not a loop or ring, but a hook on which the eyelet of the badge is hung. Excellent condition, minuscule age wear visible only at strong magnification. Minuscule bubbles to the green enamel on the reverse appear to be incurred during the "baking" of the enamel, and are not too obvious or detractive.

The issue case is in cardboard laminated in olive-green coated paper with the name of the order circled around the cross, in Latin, on the lid. Inside, the case is lined with gold-colored silk, and features a padded fitted platform for the badge, lapel pin, and miniature cross. In very good condition, showing minor wear to the laminate, mostly along the edges, and an occasional small stain to the silk lining. Structurally sound; the hinges are strong and tight.

The order was instituted in 1416 by Louis I, cardinal and sovereign duke of Bar. After the duchy came under France, the order continued to exist and was endowed with privileges by Louis XVI in 1786. The order was founded as a knightly organization of like-minded hunters and anglers who share the same principles of responsible sportsmanlike conduct, ethical hunting and fishing, and the conservation and preservation of wildlife. Membership is by invitation only, and upon sponsorship by existing Ordensbrothers.
