Excellent Tanker badge, early to mid-1940s.
Brass, enamels; measures 45.6 x 36.6 mm, weighs 16.3 g without the screw plate. This is the first variation of the Tanker's badge, featuring characteristically crude wreath, domed center medallion and rounded, small characters in the inscription in white band. The top ornament is formed by five scrolls with a border defining the upper edge.
In very fine to excellent condition, well above average for a Soviet WW2 Proficiency badge. The enamel on the center medallion shows a few very tiny flakes, mostly near the inner circle of the white band, and light, even surface wear

In very fine to excellent condition, well above average for a Soviet WW2 Proficiency badge. The enamel on the center medallion shows a few very tiny flakes, mostly near the inner circle of the white band, and light, even surface wear. Details of the tank and wreath are well preserved. The silver finish is still visible on the edge of the shield and nearly perfectly preserved on the reverse of the badge. The original full length screw post (over 13 mm) is at a slight angle to the badge - a common manufacturing flaw, not a result of damage. Comes with original maker marked screw plate of the NKPS factory.
