Promotional Certificate of a Captain of Engineers of Jewish Ethnicity, issued in December 1944.
Single sheet of paper 7 ½" x 5 ½", front only. This is a certificate confirming promotion to the rank of captain of Engineers granted to Iosif Shekhtman (Иосиф Ицкович Шехтман) by order of the Siberian Military District # 0379 of 24 April 1943. The certificate was issued by the Stalingrad Regional Military Commissar, and bears his hand signature and the commissariat's seal.

In fair to good condition. The item has apparently been folded into 8 for a long time and has acquired partial separations along the fold lines. An old repair job with clear tape is holding the right and left segments together preventing further separations, but the document will probably benefit from reinforcing the central vertical fold line. The typewritten text is a little faded but still perfectly legible.
