Cup Trophy to Winner of Boxing Competition Among RSFSR Regions and autonomous republics, circa late 1950s.

Very large size, stands 25" tall to the tip of the lid. Multi-part construction held together by a long screw. The cup has an aluminum body inside a two-part brass overlay richly decorated with floral-themed bas-reliefs. The cup is decorated with four oval vignette panels in brass frames featuring two athletes holding symbols of the Soviet state, and famous Soviet landmarks: the main building of the Moscow State University, the Spasskaya Clock Tower and Lenin's Mausoleum in Red Square, and the gate of one of the locks of the Volga-Don Canal. The artwork in all four vignettes is in enamels, in the fine traditions of hand-painted miniatures of Fedoskino, Khokhloma, and Palekh masters.

The lid is decorated with a "necklace" of eight light-blue rhinestones, and is capped with a brass tip in the shape of a sheaf of wheat, featuring the star at the top and a round plaque with a bas-relief of the Spasskaya Clock Tower.

The engraved brass plaque on the base of the cup reads "Transferrable prize to the person or team winner of boxing competition among RSFSR regions and ASSR". To the right of the plaque is another engraved inscription, "1962. Novosibirsk Region", apparently the 1962 winner of the competition. There is yet another inscription, scratched into the bottom of the cup: "GKP 16 April 1958, Makhachkala" (capital city of Dagestan, a republic in Russian Federation).

In fair to good condition. There are four sets of holes left from some removed embellishments, probably strings of rhinestones similar to the ones on the lid. The cup is slightly tilted to one side, not too much of a problem if positioned properly in the display. The brass tip of the lid is also a little tilted.

The surface of aluminum shows very mild oxidation and a few scuffs and scratches, not too intrusive to the eye against the large area of the cup. The brass surfaces show very attractive patina. The enamels of the vignettes are in excellent condition, showing just minimal wear, visible only when tilting the cup for the vignettes to reflect a bright light.
