Badge of a Shock Worker, 1939 issue.

Silver-plated brass and enamel, measures 21.4 mm in height x 21.2 mm in width; weighs 5.3 g without the screw plate. Two-piece construction, featuring a bas-relief portrait of Stalin superimposed on ared enameled "rosette".

In very fine condition. The deep-red enamel retains nice luster and translucency revealing the herringbone pattern underneath. There is a single small surface flake near the edge at approx. 11 o'clock, no penetrating chips, repairs or other significant damage. The silver finish on Stalin's bas-relief is nearly pristine, having only a tiny amount of wear

There is a single small surface flake near the edge at approx. 11 o'clock, no penetrating chips, repairs or other significant damage. The silver finish on Stalin's bas-relief is nearly pristine, having only a tiny amount of wear on the highest points and creating an almost perfect impression that the bust is made of solid silver. The details of the portrait are perfect and crisp. The attachment wires are nice and tight. The screw post is slightly over 6 mm in length, slightly reduced as was customary, but still fully sufficient. The screw plate is a replacement but fits perfectly.

Reportedly issued to best workers ("udarniks" or shock workers) and intended to be worn with a red bow.

Please note, the penny in our photo is for size reference.
