This version of the badge is slightly smaller than the Moscow Mint issue; its reverse has less pronounced counter-relief and grainier surface than the Moscow issue. The reverse of the medallion shows a raised mint mark of the Leningrad Mint.
In very fine to excellent condition. The obverse is perfect. There is some tarnish on the reverse, not too detractive. Comes with the original screw plate showing the Leningrad Mint logo. The ribbon is old and shows a minor amount of soiling but is still very sound and presentable.

This badge was issued primarily to participants of the Afghan campaign, although some veterans of other Soviet foreign interventions also received it in the late 80s - early 90s.
