In good to very good condition. The edges and corners show minimal wear, not reaching the text of the document. There is a horizontal rip near the top left. Fortunately, it is not gaping open and can be easily repaired with tape on the verso, if desired.

Nikolai Vatutin (Николай Федорович Ватутин) commanded several different fronts during WW2. He was one of the key planners of Stalingrad counteroffensive and later played a prominent role in the Kursk battle, liberation of Kiev and the Ukraine. On 29 February 1944 he was ambushed and mortally wounded by anti-Soviet, Ukrainian nationalist partisans. Despite the efforts of the best military surgeons, Vatutin died of sepsis on 15 April 1944.
