Honorary Certificate to Kseniya Malkova (Ксения Аркадьевна Малькова), an actress of Stanislavski State Opera Theater, hand-signed by Stanislavski, 8 March 1938.

Large size, measuring 9 ½" x 13 ¾". Printed on vellum-type paper, circulation only 100 copies. Folio format. Uncommonly, the certificate is on the front cover, with the internal pages left blank. Perhaps, it was folded the wrong way at the printing factory.

Large size, measuring 9 ½" x 13 ¾". Printed on vellum-type paper, circulation only 100 copies. Folio format. Uncommonly, the certificate is on the front cover, with the internal pages left blank. Perhaps, it was folded the wrong way at the printing factory.

The certificate honors Kseniya Malkova (Ксения Аркадьевна Малькова) for excellent performance before the voters of the Oktyabrskij District of Moscow during the election campaign for the Supreme Council of the USSR.

The certificate bears the seal of the theater's trade union organization, and is hand-signed by the usual "triumvirate" - Director, Head of the Party organization, and Chairman of the trade union organization. Notably, Konstantin Stanislavski was Director of the theater bearing his name, so the top signature in black ink was made by his hand.

In excellent condition, showing just a few light wrinkles at the lower left-hand corner, and a hint of soiling in the form of a few very faint fingerprints. None of the wear reaches the document. All the elements of the certificate, including the handwritten entries and the seal, are perfectly clear and legible.

Note that Stanislavski signed this certificate just five months before his death.

Konstantin Stanislavski (Константин Сергеевич Станиславский, 1863 - 1938), was, and remains, a giant figure in the world of theater and cinema. An outstanding character actor and one of the leading theater directors of his time, he is known and revered the world over for formulating and teaching a method of acting rooted in realism, deservedly called "Stanislavski's Method" or, simply, "the Method". It is what makes the spectator empathize with what is happening on the stage or screen. In short, it is the driving force of the entire genre of acting, be it live or animated.

The theater where Stanislavski acted, directed and educated, continues to be one of the most highly esteemed musical theaters in Moscow under its current full name The Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Musical Theater.
