Brass, enamels. Measures 45.4 x 36.7 mm; weighs 13.9 g without the screw plate. A 1950's version by the Pobeda factory, "Classic Flat" according to the Airapetyan classification. It features five sharply defined scrolls in the top ornament with a center part in the form of a downward pointing triangle. The center medallion is relatively flat compared with the earlier variations.

In outstanding, excellent condition. The enamel is perfect, free of even the tiniest flakes or rubbing, which is very uncommon for a Soviet "combat proficiency" badge. The details of the wreath, sword, submachine gun and binoculars are pristine. The grey finish along the edge of the shield is completely intact. The original gilt finish on the brass is very bright on both sides of the badge and free of tarnish. The screw post is full length, approx. 11 mm, and includes an original screw plate with the Pobeda Factory logo.

This variation is quite scarce both according to the Airapetyan (who gives it a rarity rating of 3 out of 5) and Khlamkin (4 out of 5). In general, post-war versions of the Excellent Scout badge are at least as hard to find - and sometimes harder - as most of the WW2 issues.
