Ukraine, SBU State Security Officer Visor Hat, circa early 2000s.
The crown is in very dark grey gabardine fabric. The piping and band are in napped wool material of royal blue color, same as on Soviet KGB hats. The chin cord is in twisted gold thread (unlike the Soviet-era metallic filigree). The hat badge is officer style, in aluminum and paint, showing the Ukrainian national emblem of Trident on a sky-blue background. The side buttons also show the Ukrainian trident emblem.
The black leather sweat diamond is unmarked, no factory logo, but we've seen identical hats with the Odessa garment factory markings. There is a quality inspection

The black leather sweat diamond is unmarked, no factory logo, but we've seen identical hats with the Odessa garment factory markings. There is a quality inspection stamp on the inside of the sweat band as well as the last name (ПОЛЯК, or Polyak) and initials (ПР, or PR) of the hat's previous owner, handwritten with a ballpoint pen. The size 56 is stamped on the liner (approx. US size 7 / Medium).
The hat is in unissued near mint condition, showing only storage age and a tiny amount of dust that should clean off nicely. There are no
stains or moth damage.
