Large Art Panel themed Soviet scientific research, circa 1970s-80s.

Measures 12" x 12", in hammered copper. The artwork depicts a microscope, and a scroll of paper unfolding into what does not really look like a perforated card for early computers but probably is meant to.

A wall plaque like that probably decorated the foyer of a building housing a chemical or biological research lab or institute.

In very good condition. The plaque is slightly warped out of perfect shape but the deformation is slight, lost in the busy design. A few light scratches and scuffs on the front are mostly seen only when you tilt the plaque to reflect a bright light

There is one spot of verdigris at top left, the rest of the artwork is oxidation-free.

The verso looks worthy of some scientific research in its own right, on the subject of oxidation and exposure to the elements. However, the wear does not affect the integrity of the metal and, being on the verso, is irrelevant.

Please note that the pen in our last photo is for size reference.
