Lenin & Stalin Wall Plaque, hand-carved in wood, circa 1940s-50s.
Large format, measuring approx. 15" x 18", professionally hand-carved in wood, using 2 boards of linden wood (the best kind for artistic carving) glued together. Both sides are coated with toning wood finish. The plaque comes with a steel hanging loop and two screws, taped to the back.
The carving is high quality from the professional standpoint but the likenesses of Lenin and Stalin are not ideal and share traces of some similar ethnic features, which makes us inclined to think that the plaque was possibly made in one of the Soviet-controlled Eastern European countries after the

In very good condition. It would be excellent if not for the slight mismatch between the two boards. However, it is only about 0.8 mm deep and is not too detractive. The boards are still firmly glued together along their entire length.
