Bust of Stalin in glazed porcelain, by Josef Stybr, artist signed, circa late 1940s - early 50s.
Stands approx. 11" tall, the base is 4" x 3.5", weighs about 2.5 lbs. The sculptor's name and initial, Stybr J., is pressed into the left shoulder undercut under the glaze. The base features the name "J.V. Stalin" in Latin script but "Russian style", including initial "V" for Stalin's patronymic "Vissarionovich". Another unusual thing about this bust is that even though we find other sculptures by Joseph Stybr for sale on some European auctions, we cannot find any information about him online except the mention that he was a Czech sculptor.

In very good condition. Very attractive craquelure covers the entire bust but there is no loss of glaze except for two tiny chips near the base on the right-hand side.
