This artist clearly was such a licensed professional who knew the traditional classicism-styled manner of painting Soviet leaders and had the talent to do an excellent job of it. It is unfortunate that the painting is unsigned and unmarked in any way except for its size in cm, handwritten on the top bar of the frame.

In very good condition. The material of the canvas appears to have become somewhat brittle over the decades. As we mentioned, it has been reinforced by an extra layer of newer canvas where it is stapled to the stretcher but you can see the wear if you look through the canvas at a bright light. In some places, you can see the light seeping through. This can be due to insufficient primer put on the canvas and, in any case, it has no effect when looking at the painting "normally". We are only mentioning this to alert to the need to handle the painting with extra care. There is a couple of tiny chips to the paint in addition to the issue with insufficient primer but, overall, all this wear is practically unnoticeable unless you know about it and look for it intentionally.
