This specimen is from the series manufactured in 1951 at the Moscow Mint. In outstanding, excellent condition. The enamel is essentially perfect having only a few microscopic contact marks barely detectable even under a 10x magnification, no wear of any kind visible to the unaided eye. The details of the wreath are likewise pristine; the gilt is very nicely preserved albeit partly obscured by silver patina. Very attractive, even patina to the reverse. Comes on a period suspension device, an early post-war two-layer model in steel with a new ribbon. The connecting link appears to be original; its ends are still joined with solder in the trademark seamless manner of the Soviet mint.

This decoration of the Korean War era could be awarded only to a high-ranking active-duty military or state security officer, most likely a general. We have not yet tried to research it through the Russian military archives, so it has a strong research potential.
