Army (Land Forces) General service visor hat, dated 1982.
In olive drab gabardine, with scarlet cloth band, gray satin liner. The visor is of the early, pre-1984 style in hard plastic rather than patent leather. The chin cord is in gold metallic filigree. The hat badge is the correct style for generals: two-piece construction, in aluminum and paint. The sweat label of the Moscow TsEPK maker shows an 82 date of manufacture as well as size 56 (approx. US 7 / Medium). Real leather sweatband, perforated to accept a sky-blue drawstring for an adjustable fit, a feature typically found only on general officer hats.

In very good to excellent condition. The hat is completely free of moth bites or tracks. The crown has a couple of tiny snags to the brim on the back, nearly unnoticeable. Both the exterior and interior of the hat are very clean. The visor is firmly attached, and the hat has kept its overall shape perfectly. There are a few scuffs to the visor, not too detractive.
Overall, a nice example of the classic piece of Soviet general officer's headgear from the time of the Soviet war in Afghanistan.
