Badge of an OKD (Communist Youth Operational Crime-Fighting Unit) Member, 1980s issue.
In aluminum and paint, measures approx. 22 mm tall x 15 mm wide. Shows portrait of Felix Dzerzhinsky, the founder of Soviet secret police. There is a Cyrillic abbreviation ОКД ("OKD") at the bottom which stands for Operativnaya Komsomolskaya Druzhina - the Communist Youth unit providing support to police during crime-fighting operations (for example, busts of "speculators" at black markets or roundups of drunks on the streets). There is a maker's logo on the reverse.
The badge is in excellent condition, showing just normal age and no significant wear.
