Higher Naval School (VVMU) graduate badge, Type 2, 1954-1957.

Silver gilt, enamels; measures 46.7 x 26.4 mm. Four-piece construction, Type 2 badge featuring a rivet attachment of the star.

In outstanding, excellent condition. The enamel is pristine, completely free of wear that can be found even under 10x magnification. Both the red and white enamels show beautiful original luster. The details of the Soviet state emblem are also extremely well preserved and crisp, and a good amount of the fragile original gilt on it is still present. The screw post is full length, about 10 mm long measured from the reverse of the badge, and comes with

The badge was issued to graduates of any of the Higher Naval Schools (Vyssheye Voenno-Morskoye Uchilishche), most of which were established in 1948-1954 period. At least one of these schools, Higher Naval Border Guard School, was under the direct control of NKVD and later, MGB State Security. Among the other famous naval schools that still exist under different names to this day are Frunze VVMU and Lenin Komsomol VMMU of Submarine Navigation.
