Military Radio Technical Service Proficiency Badge, 1st class, 1956-1961 issue.

In brass and enamels; 24.7 mm in height, 65.1 mm in width. Variation with pin back attachment and flat reverse. The enamel is of superb quality.

In outstanding, excellent condition. The enamel is essentially flawless having only a few microscopic contact marks invisible without magnification and showing beautiful luster. There is an attractive patina to the brass, while the original gilt finish is still clearly visible in less exposed areas on both sides of the badge.

The operator's qualification badge for officers of the Radio Technical Service of the Signal Corps was introduced in 1956 and issued for only a short time. In 1961, this and other officer qualification badges for various branches of service were replaced with a single Combined Arms Proficiency badge in four classes. Because Radio Specialist proficiency badges were issued for only a short time, they are quite difficult to find - especially the highest class in such a perfect condition!
