ShL-82 Air Force leather helmet (summer version), dated 1985.
Worn alone or under regular hard shell jet pilot helmets. This is a modification of the ShZ-50 helmet series, used by pilots and aircrew of virtually all Soviet aircraft throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s. Unlike the 50s-60s models, the ShL-82 features external metal attachments for the oxygen mask and has a cloth front strap for the mask. It is in many respects identical to the ShL-71 model. The liner has a silk label of an unidentified Soviet factory showing the model, 1985 date of manufacture and a blue size stamp 57 (about a US size 7 1/8 or Medium / Large).

In excellent, near mint condition. The leather is supple and "healthy", not overly dry as is often the case, and is completely free of scuffs
or other noticeable wear. The exterior earphone covers are slightly discolored from age, otherwise pristine. The interior shows almost none of
the usual wear or soiling to the suede leather of the earphone pads, neck strap and forehead strap. Includes completely intact avionics. A
superb example through and through.
