In excellent condition. The enamel is perfect (its surface is somewhat uneven, and there is a "dip" next to the globe at 3 o'clock exposing a tiny spot of brass - which is clearly a manufacturing flaw, not a result of wear.) The details of the state emblem are nicely defined and crisp. Comes with an unmarked screw plate which is probably original to the badge.
Founded in 1946 soon after the end of WW2, the LMU naval college is located in the town of Oranienbaum (later known as Lomonosov) on the
Baltic seashore just west of Leningrad. From its early days, it specialized in preparing officer cadres for the Soviet naval auxiliary
vessels such as oilers, tugs, hospital ships etc. Unlike many other military schools of the Soviet period, the LMU VMF apparently remains open
and fully operational to this day.
