This piece is one of the relatively few early post-war issues. The order was established in 1945, initially in only two classes. In 1950, the
appearance of the award was changed: the medallion was enlarged to 34 mm, and the new five-sided Soviet style suspension replaced the
traditional Bulgarian triangular model. At the same time, a third class of the decoration was added to the existing two. There were also
subtle changes made to the artwork: the early issues are of better quality - note for example the finely detailed features of the worker as
compared to the Type 2 from 1950. In 1977, this order was abolished altogether and replaced by the Order of Labor, also in three classes.
