Motherhood Medal, 1st class, Variation 2, Sub-Variation with U-shaped eyelet, circa late 1940s - early 1950s.
Medallion is in solid silver, measures 34.0 mm in height incl. eyelet, 29.5 mm wide; weighs 17.5 grams without suspension and connecting link; overall weight with suspension is 24.3 g. The suspension device is in gilded brass and enamels. The medallion features U-shaped eyelet, noticeably different from that on vast majority of Variation 2 medals. The version with U-shaped eyelet was manufactured for only a very short time.

crisp. There are a few tiny dings to the reverse, mostly to the raised edge, but no other wear visible to the naked eye. The enamel on the
suspension has a couple of tiny surface flakes at the edges and minor amount of rubbing, but still shows nice luster. Overall, this is a very
attractive example of the extremely scarce version of the medal.
