Table Medal in Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the State Insurance in the USSR, 1990.
Bronze, 60.2 mm wide. The obverse shows stylized motto "ГС" ("GS" for Gosstrakh or State Insurance) and inscription "70th Years of State Insurance of the USSR". Along the left edge of the numeral 70 are the stamped logo of the Leningrad Mint, the name of the die-cutter A. Kartashov, and a 1990 date of issue. The reverse has the dates "1921-1991" and figures representing motherhood as well as various professional occupations in high 3-d profile. The medal was struck in 1990 at the Leningrad Mint, one year ahead of the actual anniversary - which would coincide with the collapse of the USSR. A total of 10000 were minted. An interesting piece from the twilight of the Soviet era.
