Tasked with guarding the Turkish border, this unit was
stationed in Khichauri, Ajaria (part of the Georgian SSR), and
belonged to the Trans-Caucasian Border Guard District. After
the disintegration of the USSR, it remained at the Turkish
border for a while by the mutual agreement with the newly
independent Republic of Georgia, and was then withdrawn to
Russia and eventually moved to Orsk at the border with
Kazakhstan where it became Orskiy Border Guard Unit.
